On September 7, 2019, APEX Media participated in the exclusive Lufthansa FlyingLab APEX EXPO Pre-Conference Event on board flight LH 452 between Munich and Los Angeles.

The second iteration of the APEX EXPO FlyingLab saw 13 speakers presenting live on board an A380 aircraft about a range of topics concerning the passenger experience. Each presentation was streamed live throughout the cabin to passengers’ personal electronic devices using Lufthansa’s BoardConnect platform.

APEX @ is made possible by the support of West Entertainment.

Moderated together by Lufthansa Systems’ CEO Olivier Krueger and his executive assistant Dr. Constanze Schreiner, the FlyingLab included talks from Star Alliance CEO Jeffrey Goh, Airbus’ VP Marketing Ingo Wuggetzer and Jan-Peter Gaense, Managing Director of AERQ, a joint venture between Lufthansa Technik and LG Electronics.

Innovations being showcased at the gate and in flight included Pocket Sky, a light therapy wearable that aims to minimize jet lag; and sensors from brainboost, a company that wants to use neurofeedback to improve productivity and general wellbeing by creating individually customized training protocols.

New to this year’s APEX EXPO FlyingLab was a musical performance both at the gate and in flight by Praml und Wild, whio devised a “Symphony in A380” based on sounds from both the interior and exterior of the aircraft.

Once on board, passengers were also invited to participate in a “Design Sprint Co-Creation Session” with Guido Woska, head of Passenger Experience Design for the Lufthansa Group, for the first time, with a view to the most promising idea being implemented on board future Lufthansa flights.
