Singapore Airlines (SIA) has unveiled its new long-haul cabins as part of an investment of approximately US$1.6 billion, including First Class suites with sliding privacy doors and what the airline calls the largest double bed in commercial aviation. The upgrades cover all four travel classes, with new Business Class seats offering companion beds, redesigned Premium Economy and Economy Class seating, and upgraded in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems. The new cabins will begin entering service in the second half of 2027 on 41 retrofitted Airbus A350-900 long-haul and ultra-long-range (ULR) aircraft and the airline’s new Boeing 777-9 fleet.

Singapore Airlines Details New Cabins Across All Four Classes

First Class suites will feature curved sliding privacy doors and adjustable seats that convert into fully flat beds measuring 80 inches long and 30 inches wide. Passengers traveling together in the center suites can lower the divider between their seats to create a shared space, with seating that converts into a two-person sofa or an 80-inch-long, 60-inch-wide double bed.

A large table will allow two passengers to dine face-to-face or work during the flight. The suites will include a personal wardrobe, a vanity drawer, and storage for belongings.

New bedding from German company Paradies will include cotton bed linens, a duvet, pillows, and a mattress topper. The topper uses breathable materials to provide cushioning and help regulate temperature during long-haul flights.

Passengers will have access to a 32-inch 4K touchscreen with spatial audio and Bang & Olufsen wireless headphones. They can connect their own compatible Bluetooth headphones to the airline’s KrisWorld entertainment system.

In Business Class, new seats will feature sliding privacy doors, leather upholstery, and adjustable support for passengers’ backs and legs. The seats convert into fully flat beds measuring 79 inches long and up to 24 inches wide, depending on the aircraft.

Selected center seats will allow passengers traveling together to lower the divider and create companion beds. SIA has redesigned the Business Class table so it folds away at an angle, providing more foot space, while new bedding with memory foam cushioning will offer additional support.

Business Class passengers will have access to 4K entertainment screens measuring 20 inches on the Boeing 777-9 and 22 inches on the retrofitted A350 aircraft. Other features include Bluetooth headphone connectivity, wireless charging, USB-C ports, and universal power outlets.

Both First Class and Business Class will introduce smart cabin controls that remember passengers’ preferred seat positions for future flights. First Class passengers can save their preferred lighting settings for later journeys.

Singapore Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Lee Lik Hsin highlighted the airline’s focus on improving the passenger experience, saying, “While each cabin has been designed individually, they are united by the same ambition to make the experience more comfortable, flexible, and rewarding for our customers.”

On the Boeing 777-9, Premium Economy passengers will receive redesigned seats with 40 inches of pitch, up to nine inches of recline, and a width of 19 inches. The seats will feature additional cushioning, adjustable headrests, and leg and footrests to provide more support during long-haul flights.

Additional features include personal storage, adjustable reading lights, device holders, cocktail trays, USB charging ports, and power outlets. Passengers will have access to the next-generation KrisWorld entertainment system through 4K touchscreens measuring up to 16 inches, with noise-canceling headphones and Bluetooth connectivity.

Economy Class on the Boeing 777-9 will receive redesigned seats with improved cushioning, adjustable headrests, and additional space around the knees and shins. The seats will feature new upholstery, updated reclining mechanisms, and storage areas for smaller personal items.

Passengers in Economy Class will have access to 4K entertainment screens measuring up to 13 inches, Bluetooth connectivity, and a secondary display for flight information. They can check details such as Wi-Fi connectivity and lavatory availability without interrupting their entertainment.

New Cabins to Debut on Airbus A350 and Boeing 777-9 Aircraft in 2027

The Boeing 777-9 will feature all four redesigned cabins, with six First Class seats, 54 Business Class seats, 36 Premium Economy seats, and 204 Economy seats.

As part of the Airbus A350 retrofit program, SIA will introduce the new Business Class seats across its long-haul and ULR aircraft. The A350-900ULR fleet will receive First Class for the first time, with four suites on each aircraft.

To develop the new cabins, Singapore Airlines gathered feedback from more than 5,000 frequent travelers, customers, employees, and industry experts worldwide. The airline conducted focus groups, interviews, surveys, and concept testing to better understand how passengers spend their time during long-haul flights.

Feedback showed that passengers want more privacy, comfortable seating, flexible seat arrangements, and technology that allows them to personalize their experience. SIA used those findings to guide the design of its new cabins.

Several international design firms worked with the airline to develop the new products. PriestmanGoode designed First Class, Designworks developed Business Class, and Factorydesign worked on Premium Economy and Economy Class.

SIA partnered with Collins Aerospace to manufacture the First Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class seats, while RECARO Aircraft Seating will manufacture the new Business Class seats.

The new cabins are part of Singapore Airlines’ continued efforts to improve the long-haul passenger experience. The airline recently announced plans to introduce next-generation KrisWorld IFE and Starlink Wi-Fi. SIA will serve as a headline partner for APEX FTE EXPO 2026, taking place in Singapore on November 18 and 19.
